Featured ID Student: Graduate Jon Takao

JuniorIDPicture4
My man Jon Takao, WWU ID Graduate class of 2009, recently began interning at Specialized in Morgan Hill, CA. I caught up with him and he was able to share valuable advice and experience on balancing school and ID, portfolio advice for Juniors and Seniors, and how designing at Specialized has been thus far.

"...ID skill sets like chef’s knives. He (Bill Ford) wanted a lot of knives and he wanted them all sharp. After that I viewed school as a place to sharpen my knife set, now I’m trying to use them"

Featured ID Student: Senior Justin Lund

I caught up with Senior ID student Justin Lund and he was willing to share his wisdom on surviving Sophomore year and life outside of design. "Whatever benign object you are assigned, figure out how to make it amazingly innovative. Push yourself. Make rocket shoes, or Inspector Gadget shoes, or shoes for amputees, or whatever. It is a skill to think outside of the box.”
